They moving on straight from one game into another
Playing with fate, while y’all fighting over colors
They don’t even try to keep the bullshit covered
Gave y’all the platforms to entertain each other

Apathy thicker than any other armor worn
Whole of humanity sick and gravely misinformed
All of our knowledge just a click away to call upon
Lies planted in the code of lines we forever on

Why were we ever born—great apes given minds to build empires immediately went to war
Devouring rose stem and thorn—saw the sun and they decided instead they wanted violence and sepulchres

Destroy the symbols, leave them crumbs—conscious decisions to divide up the herd and remind them it’s their own fault
So here we are fighting with words—while the gluttons dropping bombs on the kids, we pick the pronouns that we prefer

  to come up with new ways
To tell you the same thing.

Despite all my writing
  I come back to one phrase,

the shore looks far too-far away
no sails, no wind, no oars
one anchor, drifting on a pause
feelings so remote, con-
trolled by whim, this tragic, floating
thing, unmade of broken
thoughts and dirt, and harsh reminders
of what might still remain 
despite all efforts to bury
chests filled with sad treasures
bookshelf trinkets, ornaments
no holiday would claim 
decommissioned fireplaces
dream of warmth, not baubles
placed on mantelpieces, just to
take up space that once be-
longed to the imaginations
of lovers with big plans
the inability to swim
turns land into punchline
no setup, despite the humours
blood, bile, and phlegm attest
dyscrasia diagnosed by lack
of anything that's good
waters lap against the hull, while
sailing on these hardships

The wind speaks a language I cannot understand
Although, its tone tells me everything I need know
The pure joy of its bellows does not engender
Similar emotion in those, such as myself, 
Who have habits that bring them into the raucous
Cacophony. I wonder, were I to join in—
  to freely fly through these quiet streets, causing all 
  to bend or fall at my ancient song, without care
  or thought or sympathy for damages to things 
  and beings who fear my love of being myself—
Would that make me feel better, about everything 
Probably not. After all, I am not the wind.
